Anastasiia Simferovska

Anastasiia was born in Lviv, Ukraine. She received MA cum laude in Fine Arts, Restoration and Preservation of Artworks, and an ABD in Art History from the National Academy of Arts in Lviv, Ukraine. She worked as a scholar-in-residence, museum curator, and a researcher at the Department of Modern European Art, Lviv National Art Gallery, Ukraine. Presently she works toward her PhD in Slavic Literatures. In 2015, she received the Gaude Polonia stipend of the Polish Ministry of Culture to conduct her research on Polish, Jewish, Ukrainian, and Armenian prewar portraits at Polish museums and archives. Her research interests include the 19th-20th centuries Polish, Ukrainian, Jewish, and Russian literature and art. In her scholarly endeavors Anastasiia focuses on the intersection of the visual and the verbal in the 1900-1945 Eastern Europe, particularly on the multi-ethnic territories of the former Habsburg Galicia.
