Admissions Requirements
The following are admissions requirements to the graduate program:
BA degree or equivalent
- Application to the Northwestern graduate school,
- Three letters of recommendation
- A statement of purpose outlining plans and reasons for graduate study
- College transcripts
- A writing sample. Writing samples should show evidence of an ability to think and write clearly about literary topics. They can be in Russian or in English.
- Application deadline is December 31, 2006
No one factor is considered exclusively in determining graduate admissions, but the admissions committee pays particular attention to the quality of the writing sample.
In past years, average GRE scores for admitted applicants who are native speakers of English have been approximately 68, 68, 69. Average four-year GPAs have been 3.75. In addition, most successful applicants have spent some period of time in Russia, or present other evidence of an excellent command of Russian.
